Open House

Both of the kids had Open House at their schools. Nate was feeling bored and was awaiting his chance to get his 2nd and 3rd scoop of ice cream for counting by 2's and 5's. We let his teacher know this and I have to say there has be a huge change in attitude from everyone. He got his 3 scoops of ice cream within that same week and even got to read a book to his class! His friends all gave him a high five and good job! He was so proud! Today he brought home TWO Phantom Awards, one for reading the book and one for being polite and productive! Erica's Open House was GREAT! Even GEOMETRY, the teacher just raved about her ability to help the other students understand by explaining things in their own words! I really can't believe it, the first two weeks we even had to call UNCLE DOUG for help! Now she has an 'A' in that class. Her Acting teacher even said that she DEFINITELY belongs there at CAPA! I cannot tell you all how proud I am of both of our hard working students!

City of Lights!

The French artist that lit up several city buildings last year came back for our 250th Birthday! Here are a few pics, there will be more, we need to get out this weekend to get the new ones that were just added this week! To see them is person is really cool!

We meet this crazy little duck at the landing..he was shaking with joy to see us..and then bit Dans finger!!!  Just stood there begging for food

If you ever asked me to drown a boat I would have never believe that it was possible..but it is!!  My 350 lb brother sat on that kayak and just squished its will to live....it put up a good fight but in the end it is just a kayak and it was up against  Tom Weaver.  Besides blowing out his shoe...he spent about 45 minutes practicing kayak rolls in the Yough...LOOK at his face!!! he was exhusted and I was afraid his heart couldnt take it...and at this rate we would be back at Layton by Christmas..He had to switch with Jacob..and Tom got in the canoe with Erica..Poor Erica..I have never seen a face with such fear...she was brave facing the storm that is her Uncle Tom..

TOM DROWNS A KAYAK

Ok ..so as it goes..Ginger bails out of the trip, so Tom decides he will take a sit on top Kayak..it will be easier and better ...as we push off from the bank..Dan states " Tom are you going to be Ok with that Kayak?"  a confident Tom replies " Sure Dan ...I have used these before NO PROBLEM"
If that Kayak had known what it was in for that day it would have BEGGED to stay back on the rack in Layton...  I have never seen someone drown a boat but this was about to change

We unloaded in Dawson PA as usual for the short trip (a short trip that is 4 hrs long) At one point Tom tried on his life preserver ( which is always a good idea that this part of the trip is checked off the list!! if you know what I mean)  He had a bit of trouble ...as he was attempting to take it off..Jacob was helping him put it on...could have been the highlight of the trip..but it wasnt.  The guide stated that he had an XL behind the seat that they had used as a sleeping mattress  but Tom was welcome to have it today.  TAKE A LONG LAST LOOK AT TOMS SHOES..BECAUSE THEY DIDNT MAKE IT HOME

The Annual Canoe Trip

It was time for the annual October Canoe trip ( which was 7 years in the making)   This year was a small but very appreciative group...Ginger has been worried for the past 2 months about riding with Tom ( for those who may not know...Tom has a habit of rolling his canoe every year which clearly wasn't his fault it was Ginger or Jacob or the fish or something) well she found the surefire way to not have to get in the water this year..CALL IN SICK!    Here are some shots of another beautiful October trip.
